Birdcage is a gallery without walls, a sound project developed as an itinerant and temporary display to host artistic initiatives.
Birdcage appears at different locations, and evolves through an ongoing dialogue with the participating artists and in relation with specific contexts.
Through this framework, research and exploration are carried out on the way sound and space continuously respond to each other through the filter of our perception. Birdcage instigates site specific interventions that are able to trigger, re-define, and transform places.
Each episode is shaped taking advantage of the way sonic matter is fluid and immaterial. Rather than being a pre-defined space, Birdcage is a mental structure that can be re-designed according to its evolving investigation. A gallery that (dis)appears with the artwork.
